ABOUT GRENELEFE-  Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort was originally built in 1979. It originally had 3 golf courses, multiple tennis courts, numerous pools, spas, and an elaborate resort center with a convention center and meeting rooms. It hosted conventions, tournaments and other activities including the PGA TOUR qualifying tournament. In 2000 the owners (Japanese company Sports Shinko) filed for bankruptcy protection. For a few months all resort facilities were closed! Westgate Resorts purchased  the property at the bankruptcy sale and re-opened the east course (designed by Ed Seay and Arnold Palmer) as well as the south course (designed by Ron Garl and local golf pro Andy Bean). They also maintain a number of the tennis courts as well as the beautiful resort pool and Lancelot's grill. Westgate also rents their own condos long term. The Grenelefe condo association and Westgate do an excellent job of maintaining the landscaping and cleanliness of the area. The West course and its associated facilities have not been re-opened. The main resort center has also not been re-opened. Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resorts claim to fame is the natural beauty of the 1100 acre property. Live Oak trees and tall pines surround you as you walk thru the winding streets and courts. Wildlife abounds and American Bald Eagle sightings are quite common. 3000 acre Lake Marion is only minutes away and offers excellent bass fishing as well fishing for tasty panfish. Although Grenelefe is only 30 minutes to Disney, we are not surrounded by the noise and traffic of International Drive.
